Norwegian post rock band, Liongeist, prepare for the release of their debut album, As Soon As I Stepped Outside, Everything Got Worse. After having paved the way for about ten years with some solid EPs and standalone cuts, the band seems more than ready to show their strengths in full length form.
The title track, which is the second preview of the upcoming album, has direct ties to darker genres through the use of drum machines and synthesizers, as well as more classical influences via the inclusion of cello by Julie Ofelia Ă˜strem Ossum (Team Me, Einar Stray Orchestra).
The song is a fine embodiment of the musical range and sentimental depth Liongeist are presenting on their debut album. The six-minute track gradually builds from soft, hushed tones to considerably heavier sounds, based on persistent themes and influences which vary from hardcore to extreme metal.
As Soon As I Stepped Outside, Everything Got Worse was recorded, mixed and mastered by Ruben Willem (Djevel, Haust, Okkultokrati).
