US dreampop duo, crushed, have returned to build on the potential started by their debut single, Waterlily, released in November of last year, and a sold-out debut LA show that followed. The band have released their new single, Coil, and announced the coming of their eagerly awaited debut EP, extra life which is set for release on February 10th, 2023.
Formed from Temple Of Angels and Weekend members, crushed's sound sees Bre Morell and Shaun Durkan adopting a more deliberate type of pop songwriting than their earlier endeavors.
The song is built on a foundation of layered instrumentals and textures, including britpop-influenced guitars and trip hop-sounding drumlines, with Durkan's vocals being at the forefront and Bre Morell's voice acting in harmony, eventually culminating in a loud wall of sound which engrosses the listener.
crushed are a very fresh duo which brings forth the best of nostalgic feelings and easily achieve a sense of sentimentality and connectedness with their music so far, while at the same time present a type of sound that is both present and forward-looking. crushed have painstakingly created beautiful, melodic pieces of dreampop, and their upcoming debut EP is expected to deliver more of the same caliber.
