Whip It On, the celebrated album by The Raveonettes from 2002, gets reworked by eight esteemed artists with their own takes on its songs. The first piece unveiled is a fresh version of Chains by Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan and Kurt Uenala.
The new version's vitality presents a notably different direction for the composition, revised from the song's archetypal garage rock grittiness. Guided by Dave Gahan's distinctive and unmissable croon, Chains has become a rather energizing electronic track, with discernible darkwave connotations.
The Raveonettes Presents: Rip It Off is expected soon from Crunchy Frog.
