The new song Hiding In My Room, by Hamburg-based producer and artist Deniz Çiçek's synthpop project Kraków Loves Adana, is another snippet of the upcoming album Oceanflower, which is scheduled to be released on February 14th, 2023. Swedish animator and illustrator Johannes Helgelin is responsible for the direction and creation of the corresponding animation clip.
Deniz Çiçek remarks: “This song is a rebellion against depression, isolation, hopelessness. It is also a testimony of me pulling myself out of a very dark place mentally. Music helps. Therapy helps even more. I am proud of how far I have come.“
Director Johannes Helgelin comments on the video: “The theme and subject matter behind the video for Hiding In My Room is identity, the prerequisites for successfully forming one, and how important it is to have one to be able to to venture out from adolescence to adulthood.”
Ciçek voices cautiously optimistic thoughts regarding formative years and disconnection, as the brooding vocals are supported by echoing synth arpeggios and disco pop radiance reminiscent of eighties' new wave.
Hiding In My Room follows the previous single, When The Storm Comes, a collaboration between Kraków Loves Adana and former Chromatics members Ruth Radelet and Adam Miller.
