Self-titled albums are common practice in contemporary music, but self-titled tracks, not so much. A simple list of classics comes to mind when considering bands with self-titled songs: Black Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Motörhead, Body Count, Electric Wizard, Paradise Lost, Minor Threat, and if the list went on, it would be mostly hard rock and heavy metal.
A self-titled song should make a statement, and The Backlash have achieved this with their own song bearing the band's name.
Built on rough guitar cycles and dazzling riffs which give way to a shoegaze-bent Britpop style, The Backlash is the band's solid remark.
The Backlash's new album Rise is out on Dirty Beach (IT) and Shore Dive Records.
