Icelandic experimental band, Hugar, and American composer Dustin O’Halloran, also known as one half of A Winged Victory for the Sullen, join forces on a new rework of Hugar's ok, from their 2022 album Rift, released by XXIM Records.
Through carefully laid out textures, O'Halloran's new rendition amplifies the immense lavishness and expansive tension of the track which was originally part of a larger work inspired by the fault line located northeast of the capital Reykjavik.
Dustin O’Halloran explains: “It was a pleasure to rework this track by my Iceland friends Hugar. The track was mostly electronic, and I decided to take it in another direction by incorporating more analog treatments on the piano and using an old delay unit that I acquired from Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie.”
