Godflesh have released their new song, LAND LORD, off their upcoming album PURGE, set to arrive on June 9th, 2023 via Avalanche Recordings. The track immediately bursts with constrained anger, bringing forth a truly gritty industrialized energy in the unique style of the great Godflesh.
The album's title directly alludes to how Justin K. Broadrick, the songwriter and creator of Godflesh, employs the band's music as a temporary ease from his diagnosed conditions of autism and PTSD. The project's new work represents the next phase of a personal path on which Broadrick he has been since he first started making music, going through feelings of isolation and estrangement, from his childhood to his adult life.
On LAND LORD, Justin says: "LAND LORD references ownership, entitlement and the objectification of human beings, as practised by almost anyone who wields power."
