The second single by rising shoegaze group, Baleen, hints at the band's versatility by going deeper into a heavier direction, and making good use of their fascinating melodies as well as their ability to create a beautiful atmosphere.
With a combination of male and female vocals, and a lot of instrumental fuzz, Ocean Hue is a song about taking a bath, creating an immersive realm of tunefulness and energy.
For this one, the band mentions inspiration from Slowdive's Souvlaki, and more contemporary shoegazers like Nothing and Infinity Girl. Part of Baleen's self-titled debut EP, the new track is grounded on dreampop melodies and strong reverb-drenched guitar work, and works as a showcase of the band's aptness and prospects.
Ocean Hue is out on Strange Library Records.
