Steve Moore is a well-known artist in his own right; the co-founder of the synth-heavy prog duo Zombi, and part of the experimental hardcore/no-wave group Microwaves. Overcalc is the project of Nick Skrobisz who has been fronting the noise rock trio Multicult for the past decade.
Their latest collaborative EP, Calyx, is out on July 28th, 2023 through the NYC-based label, Sleeping Giant Glossolalia. The EP combines Moore's atmospheric electronics with Overcalc's strong prog/punk guitar work.
The two artists joined forces in the times of the pandemic, leading to the creation of Calyx. Moore's evocative and introspective musicianship comes reminiscent of experimental, new age and film music staples from the early eighties, and acts such as Vangelis and Tangerine Dream, and blends finely with Skrobisz's grittier guitar style.
The video for Calyx was crafted by Skrobisz himself, using footage captured during tours in the Southwest.
