After a thirty-year hiatus, the esteemed Boston shoegaze group, Drop Nineteens, make a pretty strong comeback. The band has unveiled a new music video for their brand new single, Scapa Flow. The track serves as a tantalizing glimpse into their upcoming album, Hard Light, scheduled for release on November 3rd, 2023, through Wharf Cat Records.
Hard Light marks a significant milestone as the band's third album, a quite massive gap since their 1993 offering, National Coma. This return comes as a surprise, as the band appeared to have disbanded permanently, still, the desire of frontman Greg Ackell to recapture the authentic essence of Drop Nineteens inspired a reunion of the original lineup, including members Steve Zimmerman, Paula Kelley, Motohiro Yasue, and Peter Koeplin.
Scapa Flow is an amiable shoegazer which finds the band in a very creative mode, and makes their reunion very welcome.
