Tetsu the Phoenix: Wanting

Tetsu The Phoenix brings to mind sounds familiar and fresh by connecting favorites from the worlds of desert rock, black metal, doom, and shoegaze. The band's style works as much a study in sound as it is an analysis of song. A song cycle on their debut album, See You Around, is inspired by Haruki Murakami's The Trilogy of the Rat.

The band explores the idea of friendship in the rather heavy, hard-hitting shoegazer, Wanting, focusing on the particular interaction of two lives, using specific imagery and making references to the numerous small marvels and equipollent frustrations experienced prior to and through a long friendship.

The song sounds massive and melodic, creating an engaging juxtaposition which raises the bar for their upcoming full length.
