Leave Your Window Open marks the latest single release from Lauren Lakis, set to be featured on the upcoming album, A Fiesta and a Hell, scheduled to come out on October 6th, 2023 through Green Witch Recordings. The new track maintains the artist's signature refined dark rock tone, anchored by a moody dreampop foundation, staying true to her established style.
Lauren says that the song is "your typical love song (with a vampiric twist); if you were to call, I would leave whoever I was with, I would depart whatever place I was in, I would drop everything I’m doing and return to you. My life belongs to you. Leave your window open, for me."
The accompanying music video was filmed in and around the Lincoln Motel located in Chandler, Oklahoma, as well as at a diner in an undisclosed location in Rapid City, South Dakota. It embraces a DIY approach and adds a prominent vampiric element to its storyline, introducing a supernatural and mysterious aspect to the visual presentation.
"She suffers when she stalks, she suffers when she doesn’t stalk; only deriving pleasure and satisfaction through the consumption of blood," Lauren describes the character she portrays in the clip. "But she doesn’t want to kill anyone! A monster with a conscience."
A Fiesta and a Hell was recorded in Austin, TX, produced by Carey McGraw (Wild Child, Josie Lockhart), mixed by Elliott Frazier (Ringo Deathstarr, Blushing), and mastered by Christopher Colbert (Mazzy Star, Starflyer 59).
