Catacomb, the lead single from Melbourne-based band Close In's upcoming album Wellbeing, is a solid blend of post punk and shoegaze influences. Recorded between November 2022 and January 2023 at Head Gap in Melbourne, Australia, with producer Rohan Sforcina, and mixed by the band's very own bassist, Dane Blake, the track encapsulates the essence of Close In's well realized sound.
With Catacomb, Close In formulates a sonic profile which pays homage to the iconic goth and new wave sounds of the eighties. The result is a haunting and hypnotic one, marked by strong instrumentals and moody vocals, delivering an all around engaging piece of work.
This single is a promising taste of what's to come from Close In, as Wellbeing is set to be released on November 24th, 2023.
