Nostra is a Latvian-French trio which originated in Riga, Latvia, in 2016. Their music lifts inspiration from a diverse range of styles, encompassing post rock, post metal, post punk, sludge, and doom jazz.
On October 14, 2023, Nostra are set to release their second full length album, Sea of Fertility, featuring nine songs which were recorded and mixed by Jānis Kalvāns and mastered by Harris Newman (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tindersticks, Silver Mt Zion).
In contrast to their first album, Nemoralis, which boasted a bit of a more polished sound, the band's intention with Sea of Fertility was to embrace a rougher tone. Their current creative direction involved incorporating layered instruments, gritty guitars, and an overall wider dynamic range.
Delta sees the band showcasing their expansive and immersive post rock sound, with their instrumental approach being absolutely focused, resulting in a dense and confident sound which brings a deep sense of emotion and sentimentality.
