Under the moniker Noel Skum, Andrew Clinco, known for his involvement in Drab Majesty, has expanded his project VR SEX into a fully fledged five-member group, presenting a rather more enriched and robust sound. This evolution is evident in Real Doll Time, the first glimpse into their upcoming album, Hard Copy, set to be released on March 22nd, 2023, via Dais Records.
“My goal is always to load up every take with as much sound as possible in one pass,” Clinco comments on the creative process in the press release.
Real Doll Time encapsulates the gritty and psychedelic punk essence characteristic of VR SEX, with an even more audacious approach this time around. The track explores the project's familiar peculiar themes, setting the tone for the album's broader exploration of unsettling urban landscapes filled with outcasts and shattered dreamers.
According to Clinco , the title Hard Copy refers to “facsimile and the real thing, and the illusion that one is better than the other — when both come with their own menu of delights and demonic pleasures.”
