Lithuanian post metal group AORTES, formerly known as AUTISM, originated in 2012 as a one-man instrumental project led by guitarist Tomhetas. Over time, it evolved into a full-fledged band boasting a pretty immersive sound which draws from the realms of sludge, post rock, doom and black metal.
The band's latest single, Lifeless, epitomizes their penchant for extreme heaviness and profound emotion, and finds AORTES delivering a heartfelt performance amidst impeccable production quality. The track embarks on a compelling sonic trip, immaculately melding elements from many different facets of heavy music, together with experimental synth textures.
Lifeless produces an atmospheric and weighty sonic landscape, and builds to a monumental crescendo which feels rather satisfying.
