Originally created in 1991, Minus One come from Dayton, Ohio, and consist of founding members Eric Purtle, known for his work with Dementia Precox of which Trent Reznor was a fan back in the day, Luxury Pushers, and Dark Backward, and Don Habil, joined by newcomer Patrick Berry (Dark Backward).
Their new album, Die for Art, is a showcase of the band's distinctive blend of gritty industrial, electro, alternative rock, and post punk, picking up on their earlier catalogue of rare cassette-only releases from the mid-nineties. Though Minus One faded into the nostalgic backdrop of that era, the band is fondly remembered by genre enthusiasts, and they have returned revitalized, sounding as vibrant and creative as ever.
Their track Amyl Nitrate is a standout on their comeback album, evoking the vintage industrial sound of WaxTrax!, being reminiscent of early releases by Nine Inch Nails, as well as the edgier and more curious industrial rock styles of groups like My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Revolting Cocks, PIG, and Ministry.
