Shallow, a new shoegaze group coming from Montreal, Canada, presents a fresh take on classic shoegaze. The band's sound is characterized by a blend of charming melodies with plenty of distortion and grit.
The band evokes the gripping magnetism of My Bloody Valentine not just through their name, but also by way of their ability to deliver a mesmerizing, dreamlike sound which blends elements of shoegaze with subtle trip hop nuances. This combination hints at influences from other shoegaze pioneers and nods to the atmospheric tone of Bowery Electric.
Shallow's debut single, Saturday Morning, exhibits the band's prospect, featuring self-production and mixing by Corey Coffman of Gleemer, and at the same time exudes a sense of familiarity in a distinctive and enchanting manner.
