Fish in the Elevator is a Bonn-based indie rock band which formed in 2020, and takes a dreampop and shoegaze approach while keeping a completely DIY mindset.
The band's new offering, Down Under is a dreamy shoegaze song with an appealing chorus and a heavy breakdown near the end, boasting both female and male vocals. A very melodic and guitar-based six-minute piece, with a lot of sentimentality, Down Under highlights the young group's potential in a nearly effortless and notable way.
A sense of disorientation and vulnerability pervades the music's gazey tone, with themes of being overwhelmed and struggling to keep up revealing an emotional state of being, grappling with inner turmoil.
