SUMAC, the trio hailing from the Northwest and comprised of Aaron Turner (guitar, vocals), Brian Cook (bass), and Nick Yacyshyn (drums), have unveiled their upcoming album The Healer, set for release on June 21st, 2024 through Thrill Jockey Records. The new single, Yellow Dawn, unfolds as an expansive journey, blending the meditative tones of Faith Coloccia's organ with a powerful rhythmic drive, where the band goes deeper into intricate riffing and improvisations.
The Healer was produced and mixed by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Thrice, Great Falls, Autopsy). The album finds SUMAC searching into their multidimensional exploration of creation and destruction, and revolves around concepts of experiential distress serving as pathway to empowerment and growth, both on an individual and collective level.
