Hunger is the final single from Mirror, the upcoming album by Russian Baths, set to come out on June 14th, 2024, through Good Eye Records. In the new track, the band delves into the psychedelic elements of their music, blending noise rock with shoegaze and post hardcore nuances, which enhances the emotive power of their performances.
Guitarist and vocalist Luke Koz elaborates on the new single: "We recorded this at Walter Schreifels' place upstate. He suggested we put the guitar hook first. I'm glad we did. Jess wrote the progression sitting on the floor alternating two chord shapes in an odd tuning in practice. I wanted the vocals to be exceedingly intimate, especially in the second verse. I wanted everything to be exact and totally audible in the quietest and loudest moments, almost uncomfortably close."
A powerful and resonant track, Hunger merges intensity with sentimentality, standing out as a highlight in what has been shaping up to be a memorable album, and a worthy follow-up to Russian Baths' impressive previous release, Deepfake.
