dayaway has released their new single, beam me up, from their upcoming EP. The track is accompanied by a stunning neon dreamscape video. The anticipated ghost beach EP is set to drop on August 14, 2024, via Turn to Wind.
beam me up combines the band's signature breezy dreampop sound with psychedelic chillwave elements, all perfectly complemented by Amber Renee's soft vocals and flawless production. beam me up is a lush, colorful song which depicts an eerie, foreign kind of love.
The music video which comes with the song channels a melancholic neon fever dream which brings back memories of the 2014 Tumblr era.
Amber Renee comments on the track: “beam me up is about a kind of young love that’s all consuming and obsessive. When I wrote it, I was thinking about my summers as a teenager, going to pool parties at a friend’s house or meeting a crush at the beach. It all felt so intense and visceral back then. I was really inspired by glowing visuals, like neon swimming pools and hazy lights, so I wanted to paint a picture of an otherworldly love that felt like a UFO abduction. It was super fun to create a video that captured that imagery so perfectly.”
