The Executioner is the second single from Thorns, the impending album by Dallas-based musician and visual artist, Nicole Marxen, expected to come out on August 9th, 2024. The new song tracks Marxen's career downturn in commercial production after Dallas's biggest advertising agency, The Richards Group, was shut down. The case in question demonstrates how the male dominated system can change to sustain its authority in today's world rather than necessarily losing it when big shots get things wrong.
Nicole Marxen explains: “I wrote The Executioner from a place where I thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse, but then they did. My day job's main client at the time was The Richards Group. Nobody knew what was going to happen. We had no control over the situation, and yet were directly impacted. I kept moving through swells of rage and devastation, I felt utterly powerless.”
