Sylvia, hailing from Melbourne, Australia, is a new band which converges from diverse origins across their home country and across genres. Formed in 2021, the band has spent the last three years honing their craft in Melbourne and New South Wales. They began with a self-recorded EP released in 2022, marking their entry into the underground scene, and move forward to unveil their second EP, EP II, a five-track offering recorded in their Brunswick self-storage unit.
To elevate their expansive sound, Sylvia enlisted the mixing expertise of Californian engineer Jack Shirley, known for his work with bands like Joyce Manor and Deafheaven among countless others. Sylvia's new release blends ethereal guitar landscapes with accessible riffs and vocal hooks, defining the group's evolving musical identity.
Found and Lost is a memorable, beautiful track which the band describes as a "no nonsence fuzzy power pop banger." They explain: "This one is about being heartbroken in Summer and propelled by a twee pop Sarah Records drum beat."
