dayaway release ghost beach EP, alongside a dreamy, psychedelic video for the final single, soft spun gold. The EP's title refers to lost things, forgotten memories, and past lives, and comes with a wonderfully nostalgic sound which resonates deeply.
While it may not seem like it, the EP's songs are actually a collection of ghost stories, according to the band.
dayaway's Amber Renee shares thoughts on the final song and EP: “‘soft spun gold is such a tender and sincere song. It’s about a lifetime lived and the people we love along the way. Time passes so quickly. An entire life might feel as brief as a song, especially if you’re having fun doing it. I’m a scorpio, so I sometimes think about death entirely too much. This song is about wanting to stay, even when you know it’s time to go.
“This collection of songs is about the ghosts of the past and how we’ll all become ghosts in the end. And that’s beautiful to me. The fact that it’s all so fleeting and momentary. We had a lot of fun making these songs & videos, and I’m so happy to release it out into the world, but it’s funny because I already know I’ll miss this time. You can never hold a moment for long.”
