London-based trio Black Doldrums have released the latest single, Summer Breeze, from their upcoming album, In Limerence, due out October 18th, 2024 on Fuzz Club.
The palpable shoegaze and darkwave influences usually found in the sound of Black Doldrums are juxtaposed against a beautiful blend of dreampop and goth elements in the very fresh sounding Summer Breeze, as the band sought out a clearer and more direct sound which still captured the intensity of their live shows.
Black Doldrums’ frontman/guitarist Kevin Gibbard says about the new single: “This song could easily be called 'second chance'. It’s not really about summer but summer breeze is used as a metaphor for a period when given a second chance and a sense of optimism is felt after meeting Sophie. A breath of fresh air."
"There is a constant theme of trying to find happiness in a confusing modern world. In a time of protest, this album is itself a protest by expressing how to feel in such a world," the artist comments on the album.
Summer Breeze was co-produced by Theo Verney (English Teacher, TRAAMS, Egyptian Blue).
