Rescission is the latest single from Codespeaker's highly anticipated upcoming album, Scavenger. The Edinburgh-based band once again showcases their signature fusion of heaviness and emotional depth, diving into complex, thought-provoking themes while delivering performances which are powerful and fascinating at the same time.
From its opening notes to the very end, Rescission is a relentless, sonically massive track which produces a striking atmosphere. Codespeaker describe the song: "Rescission is about brinksmanship and God complexes. We've built a world where we have the power to end our own existence and we gamble so much on the idea that, if it comes down to it, someone will flinch first and accept defeat rather than commit to mutual destruction. As we give more and more power to populists, narcissists and self-worshippers, we hand over control to those who's egos would never allow them to flinch. Those who would rather end everything than be seen to lose. What happens when two such people come to blows? How culpable are we for handing such people the reins in the first place?"
