D//E Premiere: Babel Map: Nosebleed

Babel Map, a band we've commended for over four years, continues to evolve with bold ambition. Their latest project reflects the most dashing chapter in their path yet, featuring collaborations with some of the music industry's best talents. The result is as expected, a truly remarkable step forward.

Babel Map's third album, Teeth, recorded by Kurt Ballou and mastered by Magnus Lindberg, marks a new experimental chapter for the band. Unlike past offerings of theirs which were developed through live performances, Teeth emerged from an improvisational process, where the quartet built songs from scratch in the studio. Following the record's completion, the band rehearsed as a four-piece to prepare for live shows.

Initially forming in 2011 as Jessica Drummer's solo trip-hop project, Babel Map evolved into a collaborative shoegaze/post metal ensemble after lineup changes, with notable releases including their full lengths thus far, Raw Tomato, My Heart (2020) and CANCEL THIS! (2022). With the addition of Brian Doherty on drums, Teeth reflects Babel Map’s growth.

Nosebleed, a standout preview from the forthcoming full length, is a striking fusion of experimental post punk, shoegaze, and gothic rock, all filtered through an art rock lens. The track exhibits the band at their most emotive and refined, delivering a spirited sound which points at their creative evolution.

The album will be released on November 1st, 2024, via Lost Future Records.
