UK post punk band M(h)aol has unleashed their latest single and video, Snare, available through Merge Records.
On the song the band's Constance Keane says: "Snare is about countless conversations I’ve had since my first drum lesson on my ninth birthday about how bizarre it is that I play that instrument, or how I should be doing it differently. The idea of society gendering an inanimate object like a drum kit, when it’s something that brings me so much joy and release, has always frustrated me hugely, and I thought it was time to sing about it."
A noisy and driving track, Snare shatters gender expectations with a sharp, sarcastic wit, presenting M(h)aol’s bold approach to post punk. With its razor-sharp lyrics and infectious energy, Snare is a clever and dynamic piece, epitomizing the grittiness and vibrancy which define the band’s sound.
