MOVIELAND: I Relate

Vancouver-based label 604 Records unveils the release of I Relate, a single from underground shoegazers Movieland, a band which left their unique mark in the nineties. The track will be available via the label's new archival imprint, 604 Decades, and serves as a preview for the upcoming collection of rarities, Then & Now, set for release on December 13th, 2024.

Originally recorded during Movieland's early years, I Relate expresses the emotion and introspective concepts that defined the band's style. It reflects the struggles of self-doubt and the search for identity, offering a wistful glimpse into a time when discovering music was a more personal and challenging journey. Sonically, it sounds like a foundation for a lot of bands today.

Movieland, founded in 1991 by songwriter Alan D. Boyd, earned a loyal fanbase with their ethereal sounds and reflective songwriting, producing a distinct creative direction. Often considered ahead of their time, their music echoes the atmosphere of its time, during a period when great bands like Nirvana and Sonic Youth were on the verge of mainstream success.
