Terrible is the lead single from Songs of Yesteryear, the debut album by Spanaway, a band hailing from Stroudsburg, PA. Known for creating lush and emotionally charged songs, the band leans heavily into a shoegaze sound and aesthetic, layering expressive vocals with swirling, atmospheric guitars.
Formerly performing under the name Blush, Spanaway quickly garnered attention with their earlier releases. With their new material, they further refine their sound, blending modern shoegaze influences with a distinct creative flair. The single exhibits the band's evolution, marking a bold new chapter in their path thus far.
Guitarist Robby Vena comments on the new single: "'Terrible' is the ending of a significant relationship. Icing over the pain by romanticizing even the worst moments. Growing to accept that those injuries were disproportionate to the fleeting good times."
Vena continues to describe the band's background: "We all found each other through hardcore and that is certainly our cornerstone sonically. But in that same breath, we all share reverence for 90’s alt, post-punk, and shoegaze."
