Hardcore up and comers Threats are set to unleash their long anticipated second album, Backward Alchemy, on November 15th, 2024. Recorded at Mona’s Frying Pan Studios in 2023, the album explores harrowing themes of loss with unrelenting intensity.
Backward Alchemy expresses emotional devastation, blending the aggression of hardcore punk with elements of industrial, doom, and experimental noise. The result finds the band confronting grief and anguish with brutal honesty.
The latest single, Elbow Kneesey, hits like a gut punch, bringing the excruciating weight of loss to the forefront. It's an resolutely cathartic experience, gradually building toward the growing perception of what's been irreversibly lost, and coming forward with a stark and immediate sound.
Directed by nipaluna/Hobart gothic icon Black Paul, the video which comes with the track completes The Surgical Threats Sideshow; a project rooted in his 2021 film of the same name. The clip combines footage from the film with individual clips for both Elbow Kneesey and the band's previous single Hurricane, creating a singular and cohesive narrative.
