Urge, a collaborative project featuring members of M83, Bruit ≤, and the avant-garde black metal band Plebeian Grandstand, returns with their latest single, In Tenebris, from their upcoming album Here/After, set to release on November 15th, 2024.
With In Tenebris, the band creates a rather dark and moody realm, infused with post punk’s introspection and the eerie, atmospheric pulse of coldwave. The song is firmly founded on sharp, reverb-soaked guitars, haunting synths, and imposing vocals, giving way to an engaging number drenched in isolation and darkness.
The accompanying music video, directed by vocalist Adrien Broué, mirrors the project's bleak vision, unfolding across barren, nightmarish landscapes suspended between reality and dream.
Urge’s sound on In Tenebris is gritty and meticulously layered, carrying an authenticity which reflects the emotional weight of the music. With their new offering, the band follows a gritty post punk direction, showcasing a deeply expressive and immersive grasp of the genre’s edge.
