Alpaca Sports: Autograph

Autograph is the second single from Alpaca Sports' upcoming album Another Day, out January 17th, 2025, on Elefant Records. The song, originally set to release just before the album, is a nostalgic tribute to lead singer Andreas' childhood memories of waiting at Gamla Ullevi stadium for Örgryte Idrottssällskap players in the nineties, especially heroes Sören Börjesson, Agne Simonsson, and Marcus Allbäck.

After Sören Börjesson's passing on September 26th, 2024 at age 68, the band decided to release Autograph early in his honor. The track, with bossa nova influences and beautiful harmonies by Ian Catt, holds special significance.

Börjesson heard the song months before his death and wanted to be in the video. Andreas spent a memorable day with his idol, recording on the beach in August and capturing Börjesson’s joy, reminiscing about his playing days.

At Börjesson's memorial on September 28th at Gamla Ullevi, Andreas played the song and video tribute before and during halftime of the ÖIS–Varberg match. The video also features Marcus Allbäck, another childhood hero of Andreas who, like him, grew up admiring Börjesson.

Alpaca Sports continue to deliver their signature blend of bittersweet and melancholic indie pop, with even greater emotional depth in their lyrics and heartfelt performances. On the instrumental and production front, they maintain their impeccable standards, producing songs which not only charm but leave a lingering effect.
