Devilish Dear: Invisible Man

To celebrate 35 years of groundbreaking indie music, Brazilian DIY label midsummer madness prepare to release Not Like You, an ambitious two-volume compilation which brings together 65 reimagined tracks. Featuring 53 Brazilian bands, each volume showcases artists who are part of the label’s legacy while highlighting their influences and creative reinterpretations.

Not Like You (Volume 1: Gotta Love Yourself) sees 31 Brazilian artists taking on songs originally released by their labelmates over the past three decades. It captures the spirit and diversity of midsummer madness, as each artist brings new energy to beloved tracks. Not Like You (Volume 2: Gotta Love Someone) features midsummer madness bands covering songs by artists they admire outside the label, infusing each track with their own sound.

Invisible Man by Devilish Dear is part of Volume 2. The Brazilian band's version of The Breeders’ 1993 classic, written by Kim Deal, marks Devilish Dear’s return to the scene after a long hiatus. Band members, Braulio and Shelly, have stripped the song down to its essence and rebuilt it with lush layers of shoegaze guitars and intricate electronic textures. The result breathes new life into the song while honoring the emotion and artistry of the original.

The single release of Invisible Man, alongside Pelvs' reinterpretation of Stellar's Titanium White, works as a preview of the artfulness which defines Not Like You, and becomes proof of the profound respect and passion driving the artists at midsummer madness.
