Kiss the Knife marks the debut collaboration between Gainesville, Florida’s darkwave outfit Draining Kiss and South Carolina's Nightsweat. In this track, Draining Kiss’s signature gothic atmosphere collides with Nightsweat's gritty energy to produce a nu-metal-inspired sound which defies easy categorization.
Driven by relentless drum machines, shimmering synths, and haunting guitar lines, the song creates an intense, emotionally charged experience. The fusion of darkwave and nu-metal may sound unexpected, but the result is an evocative track which comfortably stands out.
"Lyrically, the song explores the illusion of control of self and identity - and the choice between holding onto a sense of self based on cold logic or surrendering to let someone else in," Draining Kiss' Quinn Martin explains.
