Rising shoegaze outfit Dream Ghoul has unveiled their debut full length, A Forgotten Future, a spellbinding exploration of mental illness, paranoia, anxiety, and addiction through a nostalgic and experimental lens. The album's dreamlike atmosphere pushes boundaries while producing a hauntingly intriguing soundscape.
The third single, Threshold Experience, 1989, encapsulates the project's vision perfectly. Anchored by heavy, resonant tremolo and ethereal layers of male and female vocals, the track drifts seamlessly into ambient synth textures. It’s a sonic trip which feels engagingly otherworldly.
“It’s about crossing over,” the band explains. “Awake to dreaming, remembering to experiencing, life to death, void to reality, present to past, unknowing to knowing.”
Dream Ghoul's A Forgotten Future is an in depth reflection on the spaces between, making it an overall exploratory and gripping album.
