SUNGRAVE: Oubliette

Oubliette is the second track revealed from SUNGRAVE's debut concept album Idyll, a powerful exploration of systematic oppression through the lens of the protagonist’s harrowing journey. The song chronicles the great cost of lost youth, unfolding in a thrilling and adventurous structure.

It opens with a minute-long introduction which immerses in the album’s doom-laden intensity before transitioning into a relentless blast beat section. From there, it traverses moments of massive heaviness and culminates in an awe-inspiring conclusion.

The dynamic range of Oubliette is fascinating, transitioning naturally from a foreboding intro to an instrumentally rich, synth- and cello-driven interlude before erupting into a fierce, vocal-forward outro.

SUNGRAVE's distinctive brand of post metal can be quite evocative and forward-thinking, producing a picturesque and cinematic soundscape. Oubliette exemplifies the group's vision, delivering a thrilling trip through emotion and sound which is rather exciting.
