Lost Legion: The Animals We Used To Be

The Animals We Used to Be by Chicago hardcore punks Lost Legion was released in 2024 as part of the album Behind the Concrete Veil, via the Basque label Mendeku Diskak.

According to the band: "This is a song about growing up and finding how bleak the world is. Losing your safety net and sense of community. It's also about losing touch with your friends as you grow into someone new."

Blending influences from deathrock, new wave, and NWOBHM, the band continues to elevate their unique take on punk. Their music dives deep into themes of darkness and existentialism, consistently pushing the boundaries of the genre.

The Animals We Used to Be focuses on primal instincts while sharply contrasting them with the constraints of modern civilization, all while oozing pure punk rock energy. It feels like an instinctual study of what humanity has used up in the pursuit of progress, expressing a longing for a more untamed existence.
