Formed in late 2022, Violenteer is a dual-bass sonic assault led by Kansas City rock veteran Steve Tulipana (Season To Risk, Roman Numerals) alongside brothers Randy Cotton (Ritual Device, Ravine, Vanishing Kids) and Barry Cotton (Members of the Press). The band merges elements of post punk, sludge, doom metal, and industrial, forging a moody and sonorous blend which straddles the lines between post rock, noise rock, and heavy atmospheric experimentations.
Since its inception, Violenteer has shared stages with an impressive roster, including Voivod, Prong, Mudhoney, Whores, Live Skull, Unsane, and Cherubs among many others, proving their weight in the heavy underground scene. Their self-titled full length opens with Cocaive Man, a track which sets an existential-laden tone, balancing melancholy with pure intensity. The band's fresh sound resonates with the ferocity of noise rock pioneers like The Jesus Lizard while maintaining a modern, dynamic edge, positioning their music as timeless and forward-thinking.
With relentless energy and a unique dual-bass approach, Violenteer has created its own space in heavy rock, one that's full of character and artfulness, delivering an emotionally charged, sonically pummeling experience. It's urgent and enduring, and its maturity shines through.
